USA provides general surgical care, with a wide range of surgical services, for problems involving all regions of the body.

General surgery is the initial training paradigm for essentially all other fields of surgery and encompasses a wide range of conditions including intraabdominal, gastrointestinal, cancer, endocrine, breast, blood vessels, and hernias.

General Surgeons also require knowledge of anatomy, emergency and intensive care, immunology, metabolism, nutrition, pathology, physiology, shock and resuscitation, and wound healing.  General Surgeons are physicians who are educated and trained in the diagnosis and preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of patient care.

Although many USA surgeons have further specialization or interests in other sourcing areas, USA does provide general surgical care for patients with hernias and breast disease, and a wide range of surgical services relating to the abdomen, including surgery of the gallbladder, stomach, and colon.
