USA oncologists have completed surgical oncology fellowships of at least two years of additional training beyond their general surgery residency programs.
USA oncologists participate in the administration of cancer programs at various hospitals in Chattanooga, and actively participate in multi-disciplinary programs in cancer care and tumor boards.
In addition to performing indicated specialty surgical procedures, USA oncologists also review all available information, including imaging and pathology, with the appropriate physician to better coordinate care for each individual patient.
Surgical oncologists specialize in the treatment of breast cancer, melanoma and other skin cancers, soft tissue tumors, cancer of the gastrointestinal tract, including esophagus, stomach, colon, pancreas, and the small intestine. They also provide surgical support for patients with tumors in need of procedures or who develop other complications, and are available for consultations and second opinions in the management of tumors and difficult diagnosis.
