Screening Studies

University Surgical Associates' (USA) Vascular Diagnostic Services (VDS) offers vascular screening programs for patients. Some patients may have a strong family history of vascular disease, however, they don’t have symptoms which warrant having an exam performed and paid by insurance. A physician cannot order a vascular ultrasound study if they don’t have an appropriate diagnosis.

Vascular screenings in our office are performed by registered vascular technologists (RVT). Screening studies performed include peripheral arterial testing, carotid ultrasound of the neck and aortic ultrasound testing for abdominal aortic aneurysms. All three screenings are offered at a cost of $35 each or $90 for all three.

This screening will take approximately 30 minutes to perform and can be scheduled by the patient without a referral. Please call our offices at (423) 756-1342 to schedule an appointment. Screening exams are not billable to Medicare or your insurance provider. You must pay the day of the screening by either cash, check or credit card.

The technologist will give you a copy of the results. In the event an exam is abnormal, the patient will be advised to consult with his/her primary care physician in the event more extensive study is necessary.
