There are many ways to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. Many choose to raise awareness and funds by participating in an event, such as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®. Some become an activist to achieve important legislative objectives. Or often people simply make a monetary contribution. But no matter how people give, every bit helps support the Komen global mission of ending breast cancer. Our program of the Komen Chattanooga “Pink Tie Guys” is designed as a new and unique way to “give.” And who is a "Pink Tie Guy?" ·They are 12 men who live and work in the service area of the Chattanooga Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and believe in Komen’s mission to help put an end to breast cancer. ·They are busy people, but willing to “give” by being part of something new and different that will help immensely in the fight against breast cancer. ·They are a business leader who doesn’t want to see our community lose another mother, sister, wife, daughter, co-worker, relative, or friend to breast cancer. ·They attend many community and business events throughout the year. ·They are willing to add some exclusive “pink” to their wardrobe The Affiliate’s hope is that each time a pink tie guy sports this special tie, it will lead to a conversation about breast cancer with someone they meet with that day. So their “give” may seem simple but it is helping to build greater breast cancer awareness, promote education, and bring the Komen messages to new and different audiences within our community. |
